Basil Onyinyechi Crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025
Basil Onyinyechi, representing Anambra, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 in a spectacular event held on Saturday, August 30, at the Balmoral Convention Center in Victoria Island, Lagos. Besting 21 other contestants, Onyinyechi secured the prestigious national title and will now go on to represent Nigeria on the international stage at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Thailand this November.

The competition also saw other queens crowned, including Idah Eno of Akwa Ibom, who was named Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025. She will travel to Poland to compete in Miss Supranational 2025 next summer.
The runners-up for the Miss Universe Nigeria title were:
First Runner-Up: Damilola Bolarinde (Lagos)
Second Runner-Up: Fortune Kurobo (Bayelsa)
Third Runner-Up: Irene Ikediashi (Ogun)
A Champion for Change
Basil Onyinyechi takes the crown from last year's winner, Chidimma Adetshina, who earned the Miss Universe Africa title at Miss Universe 2024. Beyond the pageant stage, Basil is a trailblazer in her professional life. She works in a male-dominated field for a leading South Korean conglomerate, where she oversees operations across West Africa from her base in Nigeria.
Her platform is centered on maternal healthcare, a cause deeply personal to her after the loss of a family member. She is a passionate advocate committed to improving maternal healthcare services, particularly in marginalized communities.
